Breathwork & Oxygen Certification for Personal Trainers
Your clients already train their muscles, heart, and mobility. Very few train how they breathe. O₂ Pro Academy gives personal trainers a structured, science-based way to assess breathing (BOLT Score), coach nasal and CO₂-tolerance protocols, and add oxygen-based services like altitude training to their business.
Why personal trainers are adding breathing and oxygen skills
Breathing is the one system every client uses every second of every session, yet it is rarely assessed. Chronic over-breathing, mouth breathing, and low CO₂ tolerance are common in both beginners and experienced athletes. They show up as early breathlessness, poor recovery between sets, and difficulty staying calm under load.
A short breathing assessment gives you a new, measurable baseline to track alongside strength and body composition, and a reason for clients to keep coming back.
- A 60-second assessment (BOLT Score) you can run at intake and re-test monthly
- Nasal-breathing and CO₂-tolerance drills that fit into warm-ups and cool-downs
- Breathing strategies for running, conditioning, and recovery
- A premium add-on service: oxygen and altitude-based training sessions
How BOLT testing fits into a training session
The Body Oxygen Level Test (BOLT) measures how long a client can comfortably hold their breath after a normal exhale, until the first definite urge to breathe. It is a simple, practical indicator of CO₂ tolerance and breathing efficiency.
Trainers use it at intake to identify over-breathers, to choose the right intensity of breath work, and to show progress over 4–8 weeks. Our free BOLT Score Mini-Module includes a testing sheet, client handout, and integration checklist.

Already familiar with Oxygen Advantage® or Buteyko?
Many trainers come to us after learning BOLT and nasal breathing elsewhere. O₂ Pro Academy builds on that foundation and extends it into oxygen performance and altitude-based training, so you can work with breathing at rest and with oxygen availability during training.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a medical background to take these courses?
No. COPS™ is designed for personal trainers, strength coaches, and gym staff. The curriculum explains the physiology in plain language and includes screening guidance so you know when to refer a client to a clinician.
How long does the certification take?
The courses are self-paced. Most trainers complete COPS™ in a few weeks of part-time study. You keep lifetime access to all lessons, audio, and study guides.
Is this a license?
COPS™ and CAT™ are private professional training credentials issued by O₂ Pro Academy (Spoken About Media, LLC). They are not government licenses and do not expand anyone's legal scope of practice.
Can I use what I learn with group classes?
Yes. BOLT testing and nasal-breathing drills work well in small-group and boot-camp formats. Altitude training sessions are typically delivered one-on-one with dedicated equipment.
Can I start for free?
Yes. The BOLT Score Mini-Module is free and gives you a working assessment you can use with clients right away.
